Monogamy in a diet.
Originator : I took my cat to the vet, and climbed onto the scale in his office... so im not 70kgs, but 75!!!!! So now Im really discouraged.
Answer : that was not a revelation - that was temptation. Shame. Our scales are our lovers, our life partners, till death etc. We all know what it's like to doubt our partner-scales, after all how often have they lied and told us that we haven't lost weight when in our hearts we know we have?
We want to be reassured by tall dark handsome and trustworthy 'medical' scales who will give us proof that we are succeeding. We've all been tempted and few have lived not to regret it.
Medical scales are just as likely to lie as any other. How do we know those scales haven't been knock off kilter by the walrus who had just been in get a physical?
Not only are we immediately punished and not able to get that damn number out of our heads for weeks, but it makes us doubt our faithful partner-scales all the more.
Next time you get the urge to jump up onto 'other' scales DON'T DO IT - remember when it comes to scales, Monogamy is not an choice but a survival tactic, meaningless 'flings' with newer, flashier scales will always leave us feeling like 'the other woman'.
The most important thing to remember is that you did not just gain 5 kilos. And your home scales will forgive you.
